MERSEYSIDE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY

The Society was founded in 1977 and currently has about 100 members. A monthly programme of lectures given by guest speakers over the winter is followed by several full-day field trips to archaeological sites during the summer. Weekend trips to visit areas further afield are also arranged. Through a regular newsletter members receive information about local fieldwork and excavations in which they can participate. Reports on archaeological work in the region appear in the Society's Journal. The Society has also held a number of one-day conferences.
